I participated in the Tech Mahindra campus recruitment drive, which was conducted virtually. The process included five rounds designed to evaluate various skills, including technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal qualities. Here’s a breakdown of each round:
Cut-off Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the recruitment process included a minimum educational percentage of 70%. This cut-off applied to all academic levels, starting from 10th/SSC through to Graduation/Post Graduation. This was an increase from the previous requirement of 60%.
Round 1: Aptitude Test and English Essay
The first round consisted of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with no negative marking. The test was divided into three sections: Aptitude, English, and Story Writing. The aptitude section focused on logical reasoning and numerical ability, while the English section assessed language proficiency. For the story writing portion, I was required to write an essay on a given topic within 25 minutes. The difficulty level was moderate, and the round was eliminative.
Round 2: Technical and Psychometric Test
The second round had two components: a coding section and a psychometric test. In the coding part, I had to solve two problems—one easy and the other of medium difficulty—within 45 minutes. The psychometric test consisted of around 70-75 MCQs, which focused on assessing my personality and behavior. The time allocated for this section was 15 minutes, and it was another elimination round.
Round 3: Conversational Test
I successfully advanced to the third round, which was a Conversational Test. I received an invitation email from HR with details about the test, which was conducted on the SHL platform. The test lasted 1.5 hours and included various activities such as listening to a sentence and repeating it, filling in the blanks, and other similar exercises. This round aimed to assess my communication skills, and it was an elimination stage.
Round 4: Technical Interview
After completing the Conversational Test, I progressed to the Technical Interview. I received another invitation from HR for this round, which was also held on the SHL platform. The interview lasted about 30 to 35 minutes. During the interview, the expert asked several questions related to my background, skills, and knowledge, such as:
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Which subject do you feel most confident about?
- Can you tell me about a project you've worked on?
- What role did you play in this project?
- What is your preferred programming language, and why?
Additionally, I was asked to write a basic program during the interview. Towards the end, the expert asked if I had any questions for them.
Round 5: HR Interview
The final round was the HR interview, which took place after the technical interview. The duration of this round was around 15 to 20 minutes. The HR expert was very kind and professional. During this interview, I was asked the following questions:
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- She provided a topic and asked me to speak on it for 2 minutes.
- I was asked some hypothetical scenario-based questions to understand my perspective on various situations.
- Finally, I was given the opportunity to ask any questions I had.
Additionally, I was informed that the company had a 2-year bond policy starting from the date of joining.
This campus drive provided a thorough evaluation of my skills, including technical expertise and communication abilities, and it was an insightful experience throughout.
