During my participation in the Tech Mahindra campus recruitment process, I learned about the different packages offered by the company. The company provides varied package options for candidates based on their performance in the selection process.
Probation Period and Eligibility
Candidates who are selected through the regular process will undergo a probation period of three months. After this, they become eligible for the Tech Mahindra CoE (Center of Excellence) training program. There are two main categories under this program:
- Candidates who are either not eligible or have not cleared the Supercoder test.
- Candidates who are eligible and have successfully cleared the Supercoder test.
Additionally, some candidates may choose not to join the Tech Mahindra CoE training program but still qualify through the regular selection process.
Round 1: Aptitude Test and English Essay/Story
The first round of the recruitment process consisted of an aptitude test and an English essay/story writing exercise. The format of this round was similar to the AMCAT exam, and while the difficulty level was moderate, it required proficiency in quantitative aptitude, English, and logical reasoning. The questions were divided into sections focusing on quant, logical reasoning, and data structures and algorithms (DSA). The total time allotted for this round was 90 minutes.
Round 2: Technical and Psychometric Test
The second round had two parts: a technical test and a psychometric assessment. The technical test included two coding problems, as well as questions related to pseudocode and DSA concepts. The difficulty level of this round was moderate, and it was aimed at evaluating problem-solving skills. After the coding section, the psychometric test was conducted, which was relatively simple and straightforward. The entire round lasted for 90 minutes and was conducted on the AMCAT/SHL platform.
Round 3: Conversational Test
The third round was a conversational test, which lasted for 30 minutes. This test was designed to assess communication skills and was conducted on the AMCAT/SHL platform. It included seven sections that required candidates to listen to statements and respond appropriately. This round focused on evaluating both verbal and comprehension abilities.
Round 4: Technical Interview
In the fourth round, candidates underwent a technical interview that lasted for about 15 minutes. The interviewer asked a variety of questions to assess both technical and interpersonal skills. Some of the questions included:
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What inspired you to work with Android for your projects?
- What role did you play in your projects?
- What are your thoughts on the rapid growth of technology?
- Would you prefer to rely on hard work or smart work?
- Who is your inspiration?
- Why did you choose the IT sector?
Additionally, I was asked to write some code, such as a program to check for palindrome strings, a program to swap three numbers without using a third variable, and a program to find prime numbers. Other questions included:
- Can you print a specific pattern? (e.g., 1 1 2 4 3 9)
- Can you explain the details of your projects?
- Are you comfortable with learning new technologies?
- Are you open to relocation and working in rotational shifts?
The technical interview also involved questions related to OOP concepts, SQL (e.g., sorting in descending order), inheritance, constructors, and string manipulation. I was asked to implement an algorithm to find Armstrong numbers and discuss polymorphism in C++. The interviewer also asked about my future career goals and where I see myself in the next five years.
Round 5: HR Interview
The final round was the HR interview, which lasted for 15 minutes. In this round, the HR representative discussed the company and its values. The focus was primarily on understanding my motivations, my career goals, and how well I would fit into the company’s work culture. The HR interview was more about discussing my background, aspirations, and expectations from the company.
This multi-stage recruitment process tested my technical skills, problem-solving abilities, communication, and cultural fit, making it a thorough and engaging experience.
