Tech Mahindra Interview Experience | Set 3

I recently participated in the Tech Mahindra campus recruitment process, which involved multiple rounds to assess candidates for various roles. Each round focused on different aspects, including technical proficiency, problem-solving ability, interpersonal skills, and overall attitude. Below is a detailed description of each round I experienced.

Round 1: Written Test

The first stage of the recruitment process was a written test, which evaluated both technical knowledge and aptitude. This round was divided into three main sections: essay writing, technical questions, and aptitude tests. It served as an elimination round, and only a set number of candidates advanced to the subsequent round based on their performance in this test.

Round 2: Psychometric Test

After clearing the written test, I moved on to the psychometric round. This was designed to assess my personality traits, cognitive abilities, and work behaviors. Unlike the previous round, this one was non-eliminative. The test was conducted online and included about 80 questions that I had to answer within a time frame of 20 to 30 minutes. The results of this test helped the company understand my behavioral tendencies and how I might fit within their organizational culture.

Round 3: Technical Written Test

The third round consisted of a technical written examination. This was a crucial stage of the recruitment process as it tested my technical knowledge in various domains. Topics covered included numerical and analytical abilities, pseudo code, Linux, data structures and algorithms, software testing methodologies, and database query languages like SQL. Additionally, there were questions related to fluid intelligence and software testing concepts. Like the earlier rounds, this was also an elimination round, where only those with strong technical aptitude moved forward.

Round 4: Technical Interview

In the fourth round, I faced a technical interview where I was expected to demonstrate my expertise in my field of study. As I had a background in computer science, the interviewer focused on my understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, operating systems, and database management systems. The interview also included questions on networking concepts and programming languages, such as Python, Java, or C++. There were a few problem-solving questions and puzzles to assess my critical thinking and approach to solving complex issues.

Round 5: HR Interview

The final round was the HR interview, where I was assessed for my cultural fit within the organization. This round focused on understanding my behavioral traits, values, and professional goals. The interviewer asked about my background, my motivation for pursuing a career in the IT industry, my long-term career plans, and my willingness to relocate for work. Although the HR round is often perceived as less technical, it was essential to stay composed, positive, and professional throughout the discussion. It marked the conclusion of the selection process.

Overall, the recruitment procedure at Tech Mahindra was comprehensive, and each round tested a different aspect of my abilities. From technical knowledge to personality traits, the process helped the company identify candidates who not only possess the required skills but also align with their values and work environment.
